When Nate, Nazeem, Florence, and Charlee were announced as this year’s Little Telethon Stars, they couldn’t contain their excitement and cheer.
The pint-sized heroes will take to the Telethon stage next month in a bid to get Western Australians to dig deep to support sick children like them.
Nate
Bateman Primary School student Nate spent his first 9 months in hospital after being born with a rare lung condition and experiencing multiple strokes which left him with cerebral palsy.
Despite a long list of health conditions, Nate is the life of any party and told The West Australian that finding out he was going to be a Little Telethon Star was “the best day ever”.
Nazeem
Eight-year-old Nazeem from Cooloongup Primary School lives with cerebral palsy and dystonia, which affects his limbs and causes muscle spasms.
“When he first came into my life we didn’t know what his future would be like. To see how far he has come is ‘wow”, Nazeem’s mother Noaishah told The West Australian.
Florence
Bundle-of-energy Florence has had three major surgeries in her young life for a complex incurable congenital heart condition.
Her mum, Comet Bay College teacher Roslyn, says the 4-year-old is very excited to be a Little Star.
“She keeps saying, ‘I’m famous.’ She is loving the attention and was destined to be in front of the camera.”
Charlee
Charlee was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour at a young age and has undergone a clinical trial that allowed the 9-year-old to stay off treatment for two years.
The Lakelands Primary School student doesn’t let her health challenges stop her – she can chat all day and loves dancing, cooking, and spending time with friends.
The 57th annual Telethon will be broadcast live on Channel 7 from October 19 to 20. This year’s theme is ‘Incredible Together’.
