John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) has claimed gold in the School Pathways to VET Award at the 2024 Australian Training Awards.

JCCA is Western Australia’s only selective arts college and continues to be celebrated for an innovative approach to vocational education and training (VET).

Offering more than 30 VET programs in collaboration with industry partners, the college has a strong focus on preparing students for careers in diverse fields.  

This achievement highlights an innovative approach to integrating vocational training into mainstream education, with 60% of senior students participating in VET programs. 

The unique arts-related VET programs in dance, creative industries, and visual arts have been particularly praised for blending artistic disciplines with academic study. 

Principal Travis Vladich, who accepted the prestigious award at an event in Canberra, described the win as "a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and industry collaborators". 

JCCA’s VET Director, Nat Bird, also attended the presentation, held at the National Convention Centre. 

Now in their 30th year, the Australian Training Awards are the nation’s premier celebration of vocational education excellence.
