Ashdale Secondary College already offers a terrific science-based specialist program through its STEM Institute.
Now it boasts having the best STEM educator, in Design and Technology teacher, Stephen Warwick.
Mr Warwick this week was recognised as the STEM Educator of the Year (Schools) at the 2024 Premier's Science Awards.
This award recognises the exceptional contributions of educators who inspire and engage students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Mr Warwick has been a Design and Technology teacher since 2018 and the STEM Coordinator at Ashdale Secondary College since 2020.
He has worked hard to integrate industry relevance into STEM education, particularly through his leadership in Engineering and the development of Mechatronics pathways.
Under Mr Warwick’s guidance, Ashdale Secondary College has become a hub of innovation, particularly in robotics and engineering.
His efforts in establishing ATAR and General Engineering Studies pathways, along with his statewide and national support for STEM education, have been instrumental in advancing STEM and robotics in WA.
A notable achievement is his leadership in bringing the FIRST robotics program to the college, providing students with hands-on, cutting-edge learning experiences.
