Attraction and retention incentive for remote and regional schools
This temporary initiative is for teachers and school administrators in some regional and remote schools that deliver secondary education. The payment will be offered to both new and existing teachers and school administrators in 2025. Payments will vary up to $8,500 depending on location and other industrial incentives.
Metropolitan Teaching Program
There are 72 schools in Perth in this program. These schools may be more challenging because of their location and socio-economic status indicators.
Teachers in the program receive:
- additional financial incentives of up to $3,000 a year, depending on location
- permanency after 2 years’ of continuous and satisfactory service.
Country Teaching Program
There are 146 country schools in this program. Many are in small, isolated communities.
Teachers working at schools in the program receive:
- financial incentives between $5,000 and $13,730 a year depending on location
- permanency at their last Country Teaching Program school after 2 years’ of continuous and satisfactory service.

Reduction of Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debts
Teachers at public schools in very remote areas may be eligible for assistance with their HELP debt.
