Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships

The Australian Government Department of Education offers Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships. These support new teaching students to meet study costs, in exchange for teaching in public schools or early learning settings after graduation.

Scholarships of up to $40,000 per student are available for full-time undergraduate initial teacher education (ITE) students. This is $10,000 per year for a 4-year qualification.

Up to $20,000 is available for full-time postgraduate ITE students. This is $10,000 per year for a 2-year qualification.

Find more information on the scholarships and when applications open on the Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships website3.

University scholarships

Universities in Western Australia offer a range of scholarships. Some are specifically for teaching or education courses, while others are open to a range of degrees, including teaching and education.

Scholarships are often open to students currently enrolled at the university. There are scholarships for undergraduate or postgraduate studies and also for both domestic and international students. The best way to find scholarships you might be eligible for is to search each of the university websites using the filters that apply to you:
