"Whether it is teaching students how to use a new software program, to build a computer or even introducing them to robots and coding, I learn something new every day."
Multimedia and ICT Teacher, Canning Vale College. Finalist, WA Beginning Teacher of the Year 2016.
Anita studied Bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) at University of Western Australia.
"I genuinely enjoy my chosen career in public education. Whether it is teaching students how to use a new software program, to build a computer or even introducing them to robots and coding, I learn something new every day.
"I have been offered some great opportunities over the past three years working with the Department of Education at Canning Vale College. Last year I was selected as a WA Beginning Teacher of the Year finalist in the WA Education Awards and I also presented at an international conference on transformative education in Nepal.
"Through my passion for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the Arts and mathematics) education and a personal love of video games, I started the Game Design Club at Canning Vale College. My interest in play-based learning has led to delivering presentations and workshops at schools, Murdoch University and Kathmandu University on how the fusion of Visual Art and Technology can spark creativity and innovation.
"I am also so grateful for how generous my colleagues have been in mentoring me and to work in an organisation that allows me to make the most of such opportunities, allowing me to grow as a teacher."
