Reward and recognition

Margaret River Senior High School has once again dominated the competition, claiming the Champion School Title for the 19th consecutive year in the 2024 Think Mental Health WA School Surfing Titles. Undefeated since 2006, the school’s surfing legacy continues to shine.

In a thrilling showdown, 27 regional and metropolitan high schools from across Western Australia battled it out in ten intense qualifying rounds. The competition was fierce, with the state's top talent in surfing and bodyboarding on display. But when the final waves crashed at Trigg Beach, it was Margaret River Senior High School that triumphed, solidifying their place as the undisputed champions.

Macklin Flynn and Okie Fraser were among the students who contributed to the school’s win. Speaking to the Augusta Margaret River Mail, Okie expressed his excitement.

“It was definitely tough out there, but so good to have a teammate like Macklin in the water with you,” he said.

“I’m really excited to get another surf at the Aussie Titles after winning the UlB Boys State Title as an individual.”

Ruby Berry, who also represented the school told Augusta Margaret River Mail that her school has been very supportive of the teams’ surfing aspirations.

“I’m thrilled to represent our school and our state at the National Titles.”

The team will be heading to Wollongong, NSW in November 2024 to compete in the National Junior Surfing Titles.
