Students

Staff and students from Geraldton Residential CollegeWe’re proud of our students and what they achieve during their time at Geraldton Residential College. Up to 119 students between 11 and 18 years old come from all over Western Australia, from as far north as Halls Creek, east to Meekatharra south to Jurien Bay.

The college environment brings students' unique personalities and lifestyles together in one place, where they learn and grow from each other, forming life-long friendships.

Staff

Boarding Supervisors from Geraldton Residential CollegeOur supervisory team works to provide the best possible boarding experience for students during their stay in Geraldton. All-hours supervision is provided by our staff during the school term and weekends.

Geraldton Residential College cooks created a special Christmas dinner for the boarders.To ensure the best possible standard of duty of care, all supervisory staff hold current qualifications, including: 

  • Certificate IV in Community Services - Student Residential Care (CHC42021)
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009) certificate
  • water safety qualifications including Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), Bronze Medallion and Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pools
  • bus driver’s license with Passenger Transport Declaration (PTD) Authorisation

Our staff also include a manager of corporate services, cooks, cleaners and a grounds person, who all aid in the day to day operations of the residential college.

Champion Bay Senior High School logoStudents who attend Champion Bay Senior High School travel the short 8km distance to school on public transport.

Champion Bay Senior High School provides a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment. Students can gain the knowledge, skills and values to help them realise their potential. We ensure that student achievement and learning is at the centre of all that our teachers do. Our broad curriculum offers pathways leading to attainment of an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications or future employment.

Geraldton Senior High School is a vibrant, multicultural school that embraces a culture of respect, responsibility and everyone doing their best. Geraldton Senior High School caters for students in Years 7- 12 enabling young people to complete their entire secondary education at our school.

We provide a broad comprehensive education with pathways consisting of Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses, Endorsed Programs and Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications. Students can also complete an individualised pathway which could lead to an attainment of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).

Transport to and from school

Boarders from Geraldton Senior High SchoolStudents at any school are welcome to borrow a college bicycle to ride to school.

Parents are asked to provide a TransGeraldton SmartRider card for their child which gives them access to public transport. Using a SmartRider card, students receive a student fare on school days. Students and parents are responsible for keeping their SmartRider card safe and loaded for travel to and from school. Access information about SmartRiders from Transperth.

Located 424 kilometres north of Perth, Geraldton’s population of over 40,000 enjoy beautiful beaches, comfortable climate and year-round sunshine.

A bustling regional city, Geraldton boasts a healthy community environment, a flourishing economy and successful industries such as mining, fishing, manufacturing, construction, retail and tourism. Our port city is located 5 hours’ drive from Carnarvon, Perth and Meekatharra and is connected by daily flights and buses to Perth.

Geraldton Residential College boarders with community members during NAIDOC weekHaving a yarn around the fire at the 2024 NAIDOC event at Geraldton Residential CollegeThe college has strong ties to the community. To enhance this connection we have a local input networking and communications (LINC) committee at the college. The LINC committee is made up of representatives from the community and provides advice and support to the manager and staff regarding the operation and management of the college. The LINC committee promotes the college and ensures that activities are in the best interest of students.
