About us
About us
We are committed to providing a safe and caring environment to support your child in their personal development and education.
For over 40 years, the college has provided high-quality care to students. Our college has an excellent reputation and consistently receives great reviews from parents in independent surveys. We are known for creating a caring environment for our students, providing delicious and healthy food, communicating well with parents, and organising fun activities for students.
Students
We currently have 21 students boarding at Moora Residential College. Many of our students come from farming areas and coastal communities such as Jurien Bay and Lancelin. Some of our students come from as far as Marble Bar. Being from small communities, they enjoy living in a country town with a welcoming community.
Whilst at the college, students attend Central Midlands Senior High School from Years 7 to 12.
Staff
Leading the College is College Manager, Anne-Marie Wilson. The college has 7 supervisors with almost 40 years of combined experience in providing support and supervision to students. They are well respected by students and parents. A male and a female supervisor are always available.
To ensure the best possible standard of duty of care, all supervisory staff hold current qualifications, including:
- Certificate IV in Community Services - Student Residential Care (CHC42021)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009) certificate
- water safety qualifications including Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), Bronze Medallion and Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pools
- bus driver’s license with Passenger Transport Declaration (PTD) Authorisation
Our staff also include a manager of corporate services, cooks, cleaners and a grounds person, who all aid in the day to day operations of the residential college.
School
Central Midlands Senior High School
Central Midlands Senior High School is a progressive secondary school conveniently located next to the college. It provides education for approximately 200 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and welcomes regional students.
Your child has access to innovative, flexible pathways for learning with a wide range of academic and vocational subjects. One major attraction of the school is the small class size. A low student-to-staff ratio ensures plenty of individual attention and assistance, in and out of the classroom.
For more information about the school, refer to the Central Midlands Senior High School website.
Community
Moora is a small community with a population of 2780. It is located 172km northeast of Perth in a farming district. It is a regional centre with a pharmacy, dentist, doctors and a district hospital.
Find out about Moora and the surrounding area on the Shire of Moora website.
The college has strong ties to the community. To enhance this connection we have a local input networking and communications (LINC) committee at the college. The LINC committee is made up of representatives from the community and provides advice and support to the manager and staff regarding the operation and management of the college. The LINC committee promotes the college and ensures that activities are in the best interest of students.
