Sixty more Western Australian public schools face a greener future thanks to funding received as part of the Schools Clean Energy Technology Fund.
This third round of funding will go towards fitting 32 regional and 28 metropolitan schools with light emitting diode (LED) lights in a bid to reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions.

The initiative is part of a larger plan to promote sustainability and energy efficiency in schools. It will help achieve a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions of to 80% of recorded 2020 levels by 2030.
The overall goal is to reach net zero emissions by 2050, with a focus on reducing environmental impact and energy expenses.
Executive Director of Infrastructure, Rob Thomson spoke of the importance of the fund.
“The solar systems and LED lighting replacements being delivered reduce a school’s energy consumption and associated emissions,” he said.
“All of these options provide an ongoing saving on school’s energy costs, freeing up funds for the benefit of students.”
The LED lighting installations will make a substantial impact on energy consumption and carbon emissions. LED lights are well-known for their energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and minimal environmental impact.
