Schools

Teaching opportunities are more likely to occur in schools located in the Great Southern which, apart from Albany, are smaller and further from the regional centres. The region has a range of roles available in agricultural education and related trades training programs located in specialised colleges and schools.

Students

The Noongar people are the traditional custodians and original inhabitants of the lands of the South West, representing 14 language groups. Many schools in the South West have introduced Noongar language in recent years. These schools play a vital role in supporting community language revitalisation.

Teachers and staff

Staff in these schools represent seasoned locals and newcomers, as well as long-standing members of the community. Roles extend beyond traditional teaching positions, with opportunities in agricultural education and trades training programs.

Embracing the rich heritage of the Noongar people, many schools have integrated Noongar language into their curriculum, building collaborative relationships with Aboriginal students, families, and communities.

Our agricultural schools and colleges in the South West offer a variety of roles across several locations, find out more about agricultural careers1. Our staff also work at the Albany Residential College and the South West Education Regional Office in Bunbury.
