We have started the consultation phase and want to hear from you!

The consultation will run from 20 August to 4 October 2024.
We want to hear from everyone who wants to have a say. Share with us:
- your ideas for how the School Education Act could be improved
- how you think your ideas will help to include students with disability.
We have written a discussion paper to help everyone understand what is in the School Education Act and which areas could be changed.
The discussion paper is based on findings from a research phase that explored:
- what children, families, and educators have already shared in various reports and studies across Australia
- what can be learned from other regions in Australia and overseas.
The discussion paper has 13 questions that we want your feedback on.

Email, call or text us if you want to give your feedback another way.
If you feel comfortable, tell us some information about yourself in your response. This will help us to:
- understand common concerns
- know if we have heard from a diverse range of people
- know if we have missed important voices in the community.
For example, you may like to tell us if you are:
- a person with disability
- a child, parent or sibling of someone with disability
- an education assistant, teacher or principal.
You may also like to let us know whether your feedback relates to:
- a government school (often called ‘public schools’)
- a non-government school (often called ‘private schools’)
- home education.
Feedback is due by 5 pm on Friday 4 October 2024.
Children and young people with disability are at the centre of the review.
We have worked with the Periscope Crew to make a video for you. The video aims to:
- start a conversation about some of the areas covered by the School Education Act
- encourage children and young people to make a submission.
